A day at an estancia is a common way to see the pampas without spending a night away from Buenos Aires: a ranch opens to visitors for the day, with a barbecue lunch and countryside activities. We look after the drive there and back. The booking at the estancia is made by you, directly with them.
What the day involves
Each estancia sets its own programme, but there is usually an asado, the Argentine barbecue, rides on horseback or by carriage, and displays of gaucho horsemanship. Several of the estancias visitors choose are around San Antonio de Areco, a small town known for its gaucho tradition; there are others elsewhere in Buenos Aires province. The programme, the days they receive visitors and what the entrance covers are stated by each estancia.
How the transfer is arranged
- You choose the estancia and reserve your place with them.
- You send us its name, the date and the time you are expected.
- We collect you at your accommodation with margin to arrive for the welcome.
- The driver waits in the area or returns at the agreed time and brings you back to your door.
If you like, we can stop on the way out or back for a walk around a small town centre.
Things to bear in mind
- The last stretch to many estancias is a dirt road. After rain, ask the estancia about access before setting off.
- Bring closed shoes, sun cream and a layer suited to the season.
- Some estancias sell their own transport, sometimes shared with other visitors. Ours is private and leaves at the time that suits you.
For parties of 4 to 7 a minivan is the right size; larger groups travel in two vehicles together.
Frequently asked questions
Is the estancia entrance included?
No. The day is booked with and paid to the estancia. Our quote covers the vehicle, the driver and the waiting.
Can you recommend an estancia?
The choice and the booking are yours. If you already have one in mind, tell us which and we quote the transfer there.
What if it rains?
Ask the estancia whether the programme goes ahead and how the road is. If the date changes, tell us and we reschedule the transfer.
