Tigre and Delta day trip with boat ride

Tigre lies north of Buenos Aires, at the point where the Paraná Delta begins: a maze of rivers and islands with houses on stilts that can only be reached by water. We take you there and back in a private vehicle. The boat ride is chosen and paid for by you in Tigre, with one of the boat companies that leave from the river station.

What there is to do

  • A boat trip through the Delta: rides of different lengths are on offer; times and fares come from each company.
  • Puerto de Frutos: a market for crafts, wicker furniture and things for the home.
  • Paseo Victorica: the riverside walk, with the Museo de Arte Tigre.
  • San Isidro: it is on the way, and many visitors stop to see the cathedral and the old centre.

How the day runs

  1. We collect you at your accommodation and drive straight to Tigre, or with a stop in San Isidro.
  2. The driver drops you near the river station and you agree where and when to meet again.
  3. After the boat you can add the Puerto de Frutos or lunch by the river.
  4. You are driven back to your door.

Worth knowing

At weekends and on public holidays Tigre fills up and parking near the river takes time; on weekdays it is far quieter. If you have a particular boat trip in mind, check with the company beforehand which days it runs. Take a layer: it is cooler on the water.

Tigre can also be reached by train from Retiro. A private vehicle makes sense with children, older travellers or a group, or when you want several stops in one day. The service works like a driver by the hour.
