Private transfer Puerto Iguazú – Ciudad del Este

There is no direct road from Puerto Iguazú to Ciudad del Este: you drive into Brazil first and into Paraguay second. The distance is small, but the trip includes two borders. Most people book it for a day of shopping or to continue travelling in Paraguay. Whether the transfer is available, and on what conditions, is confirmed when you book.

What the trip involves

1. Leave Argentina and enter Brazil over the Tancredo Neves Bridge, on the Iguazú river.
2. Drive across Foz do Iguaçu.
3. Leave Brazil and enter Paraguay over the Friendship Bridge, on the Paraná river.

The return repeats the same steps in reverse. Queues at both bridges vary by day, hour and season, and the Friendship Bridge tends to be congested on busy shopping days. We do not promise a crossing time.

Who it suits

• Day shoppers. Electronics, perfume, clothing. A private vehicle has room for what you buy, and waiting or a return time is agreed beforehand.
• Travellers going further into Paraguay. The main road to Asunción starts in Ciudad del Este.
• Guests with a hotel or a meeting in Ciudad del Este. Door to door, with luggage.

Documents and purchases

Every passenger, children included, carries their own valid travel document. It has to be accepted for entry to both Brazil and Paraguay, even though you only pass through Brazil. Which document applies depends on nationality, so check with the migration authority of each country before you travel. Minors travelling without both parents usually need an authorisation; check the rule that applies to you. Purchases are subject to customs limits on the way back, and the current ones are set by the customs service.

Choosing the vehicle

A sedan takes up to 3 passengers, a minivan 6–7 and a van 8. If you expect to come back with boxes, tell us when you ask for a quote: a minivan can make sense even for a small group.
