Buenos Aires to Córdoba: car, bus or plane

Team at LatamTransfer ·

Between Buenos Aires and Córdoba the trip is already a long one: overland it takes most of a day or a whole night. That is why travellers short on time usually fly, while the rest choose between the night bus and the car. Córdoba is the capital of the province of the same name, Argentina’s second city and the gateway to the nearby hills, the Sierras.

Plane: the quickest way

There are many daily flights to Córdoba airport. Most leave from Aeroparque and some from Ezeiza, so check which one yours uses. Even with the ride to the airport and the waiting, it remains the shortest way to get there. It is the natural choice for business trips and short breaks.

Bus: overnight and unhurried

Buses leave from Retiro terminal, mostly in the evening. You sleep on the way, arrive in the morning and save a hotel night. Seat classes make a big difference to comfort, so compare before you buy. It is a good alternative for one or two people watching the budget.

Train: for those with time

A passenger train runs from Retiro, with few departures a week and considerably slower than the bus. It is more of an experience than a practical way to travel. Confirm that it is running and buy the ticket early.

Car: a day on the road

You drive on Ruta Nacional 9, motorway all the way to Córdoba by way of Rosario, with tolls. The road is flat and good, but it is a full day at the wheel. It makes sense if you plan to tour the Sierras afterwards in the same car, if you are several people, or if you carry things that do not fit on a plane.

And a private transfer

It helps to be frank: for one or two people who only need to reach Córdoba, flying is faster and usually more convenient. A road transfer with a driver makes sense in specific cases:

  • a group that wants to travel together, with stops on request and nobody driving;
  • people who cannot or prefer not to fly;
  • trips with pets, instruments, equipment or a lot of luggage;
  • someone who lands at Ezeiza and would rather continue by road than change airports.

The usual pattern is to combine: fly to Córdoba and book a transfer at each end. In Buenos Aires we take you to Aeroparque or Ezeiza. In Córdoba we arrange the transfer from the airport to the city or the Sierras. Other inland destinations are listed under transfers around Argentina.

Air fares, bus timetables and train days change often, so check them with each operator.
