A polo day pairs two things Argentina is known for: the sport and the countryside. You leave the city in the morning, spend the day at a club or estancia with horses, a match and a long lunch, and are driven back in the evening. We provide the private transfer; the day itself is booked with the venue.
How the day usually runs
Polo estancias and clubs lie in the countryside north and west of Buenos Aires, with many of them around Pilar. A typical programme includes watching a practice match, a short lesson for beginners and an asado. Each venue sets its own programme, season and start time, so book with them first and then send us the details.
Why a driver helps
- Estancias are not on public transport routes, and the last stretch is often a dirt road.
- Lunch tends to come with wine, and nobody in the party has to drive back.
- The same vehicle and driver stay with you, so jackets, boots and bags can remain in the car.
What to tell us
- The name and location of the venue, and the time they expect you.
- Your pick-up address in Buenos Aires.
- The number of passengers: a sedan takes up to 3, a minivan 6 or 7, a van 8.
- The time you want to leave, or whether the driver should wait until the programme ends.
After heavy rain some country roads become hard to pass. If the venue warns you about access, pass the message on so we can plan the route.
Polo in the city
If you would rather watch top-level polo than try it, the main tournaments are played in spring at the Campo Argentino de Polo in Palermo. For a day in the country without polo, see the estancia day trip.
Frequently asked questions
Do you book the polo day for us?
No. You book the programme with the estancia or club, and we handle the transport there and back.
Do we need riding experience?
That depends on the venue and the programme you choose. Ask them when you book.
Does the driver stay all day?
Yes, if you book the trip with waiting. Otherwise we quote two separate journeys at agreed times.
Can children come?
Child seats are available on request. Whether the activities suit children is a question for the venue.
