Ciudad del Este is Paraguay’s cross-border shopping city, known mainly for electronics, perfume and imported goods. A shopping day with a driver is a round trip: we take you there, agree a place and time to meet again, and bring you back with your bags in the same vehicle. You do not have to walk across the bridge carrying them.
Where the trip starts
- From Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. The way there passes through Brazil: first into Foz do Iguaçu, then over the Friendship Bridge. That is two borders each way. See Puerto Iguazú – Ciudad del Este.
- From Posadas. The route enters Paraguay at Encarnación and continues by road, with one border. It is a much longer drive and works better with a night away.
How the day runs
- An early start, before the shopping district and the bridge fill up.
- Your driver drops you as close to the shops as traffic allows. A vehicle cannot wait at a shop door in those streets.
- You shop at your own pace. Check the hours of the shops you want beforehand.
- You meet again at the agreed place and time, and return.
Shopping and customs
We do not sell or recommend shops, and we do not carry merchandise as freight: we carry passengers with their personal purchases. What you bring back falls under the customs rules of the country you return to. Check the current allowance yourself and keep your receipts. Does the driver come into the shops with me?
No. The driver drives and waits at the agreed point.
How long can I spend shopping?
You decide when you book. Waiting time is part of the quote, as with our hourly driver service.
What if I buy something bulky?
Tell us beforehand what you expect to bring back, so that we choose a vehicle with enough boot space.
