Encarnación beaches and carnival

Encarnación, the Paraguayan city across the river from Posadas, becomes a summer resort between December and February. By day people use the sandy river beaches along its promenade on the Paraná; on several weekend nights the carnival parades through the city’s sambadrome. We arrange the transfer there and the return at the time we agree.

A beach day

San José is the beach most visitors head for, and it is right on the promenade. The usual plan is to cross in the morning, spend the day and return towards evening, with the return time fixed at booking. The early afternoon sun is strong and there is little shade, so with children bring hats, water and sunscreen. Ask for child seats when you book.

A carnival night

The parades end late. Three practical points:

1. Dates change every year. Check the official programme and buy your own tickets; we do not sell them.
2. The whole crowd leaves at once. We agree a meeting point a few blocks away, where the vehicle can actually reach you.
3. Going back to Posadas the same night depends on the border, and we confirm it at booking. Many passengers prefer to sleep in Encarnación and cross in the morning.

Border and season

In January and February the queue at the bridge is among the longest of the year, and we do not promise a crossing time. Each passenger carries their own valid document. Requirements depend on nationality and should be checked with each country’s migration authority. Accommodation fills up in those weeks, so book it early.
