Encarnación stands in southern Paraguay, directly across the Paraná river from the Argentine city of Posadas. In practice this trip is Buenos Aires to Posadas with a border at the very end. It is a long drive, so the first decision is whether to do all of it by road.
By road, or with a flight for part of the way
- Road only. Your driver collects you in Buenos Aires and takes you to the address in Encarnación. This suits groups that fill the vehicle and anyone with a lot of luggage, small children or pets.
- Flight to Posadas and a short crossing. There are flights from Buenos Aires to Posadas. From the airport we arrange the Posadas – Encarnación transfer, which is short in distance.
Tell us how many you are and what you carry, and we will say which plan looks more reasonable.
The road through Argentina
The route leaves Buenos Aires towards Zárate, crosses the Zárate – Brazo Largo bridges and joins Ruta Nacional 14. This national highway runs north through Entre Ríos and Corrientes provinces, close to the Uruguay river, as far as Misiones. It is a dual carriageway up to the Paso de los Libres area and a two-lane road after that, where progress is slower. To avoid driving at night you can sleep on the way, for example in Concordia or Paso de los Libres. Accommodation is your own arrangement.
The border comes last
The bridge to Encarnación arrives after many hours on the road, and in summer and on long weekends the queue is long. The departure time is therefore planned backwards from the arrival in Posadas. Each passenger shows their own valid document. Which one is accepted depends on nationality and should be checked with each country’s migration authority. Whether the route is available, and on what conditions, is confirmed at booking. We do not promise a crossing time.

In two vehicles travelling together. The largest we offer is a van for 8 passengers; see the options under vehicles.
