Rosario and Santa Fe are two cities in Santa Fe province, linked to each other by a motorway. Both lie on Ruta Nacional 11, the national highway that runs north to the Paraguayan border. A transfer to Asunción can start in either city, or collect passengers in both.
Where you start
- From Rosario. The motorway takes you to Santa Fe, where the route joins highway 11. This is the longer option, and it is worth planning a night on the way, for example in Resistencia.
- From Santa Fe. You are already on the road north. It is a long day, but it can be done in one with an early start and stops.
- A group split between the two. The vehicle starts in Rosario and picks up the others in Santa Fe. Passengers can also join in towns along the way, such as Reconquista.
What the road is like
North of Santa Fe the highway is mostly two lanes. Expect trucks, small towns to pass through and long stretches without fuel stations. Summer in northern Argentina is hot, so bring water and light clothes. Stops are agreed at booking.
Why people make this trip
Family visits, work, flight connections and football: local supporters travel when their club plays an international cup match in Asunción. For that, see transfers to matches in Asunción. For one person travelling light, the long-distance bus is the economical choice.
Border and conditions
The crossing is at Clorinda – Puerto Falcón. Each passenger carries their own valid document. Which one is accepted depends on nationality and should be checked with each country’s migration authority. With minors, check the authorisation that applies. Whether the route is available, and on what conditions, is confirmed at booking. We do not promise a crossing time.
