Clorinda is the Argentine town closest to Asunción. It sits right on the border in Formosa province, and the road to the Paraguayan capital starts on the other side of the bridge. The distance is small. What shapes the schedule is the border control.
Who books it
- Passengers who reach Clorinda by long-distance bus and want to go on to Asunción without walking their luggage over the bridge.
- Clorinda residents with a flight from Asunción airport, a medical appointment or business in the capital.
- Families with relatives on both sides, especially around the holidays.
- Older travellers and people with reduced mobility, for whom changing vehicles at the border is hard.
The route
The crossing uses the San Ignacio de Loyola international bridge over the Pilcomayo river, between Clorinda and Puerto Falcón. The road then continues on the Paraguayan side and crosses the Paraguay river before entering Greater Asunción. The airport is in Luque, on the far side of the city from the border, so anyone flying has to allow for city traffic as well.
How it works
Your driver collects you at the address you give in Clorinda and takes you to the door at the other end. Each passenger shows their own document at the Argentine exit control and at the Paraguayan entry control. Whether the route is available, and on what conditions, is confirmed at booking, and we do not promise a crossing time. Our guide to the Clorinda – Puerto Falcón crossing explains the steps.
Things to consider
Documents depend on your nationality, so confirm them with the migration authorities of Argentina and Paraguay. If children travel without both parents, check which authorisation applies. Queues grow on public holidays, long weekends and near the end of the year, and trucks share the crossing. If you have a flight, leave with a wide margin.

Frequently asked questions
Can I book the transfer only as far as the bridge?
The service is quoted door to door. If you need something different, describe it when you ask for a quote and we will tell you whether it is possible.
Which vehicle makes sense for such a short trip?
It depends on the group and the luggage: a sedan for up to 3 passengers, a minivan for 6–7 and a van for 8.
Do you also do the return from Asunción to Clorinda?
Yes, a return trip can be booked. The pick-up time for the way back is agreed in advance.
