Private transfer Bariloche – El Bolsón

South of Bariloche, the road drops into the valley of El Bolsón, a small town in Río Negro province known for its craft fair, hop fields, craft breweries and berry farms. There are no regular flights, so visitors come by road from Bariloche. We arrange the trip as a private door-to-door transfer; availability in the region is confirmed when booking.

The drive

The route follows Ruta 40 south. It is paved throughout and very much a mountain road: it runs beside lakes Gutiérrez, Mascardi and Guillelmo and then winds down towards the valley. Expect a calm pace. Passengers prone to car sickness should tell us, so the driver plans a short break.

Day trip or one-way

• A day out from Bariloche. The vehicle waits and brings you back. The craft fair on the main square is held only on certain days of the week, so check the days before fixing your date.
• One-way with luggage. For travellers moving on to El Bolsón or to Lago Puelo, a little further south across the Chubut provincial line.
• Straight from the plane. The transfer can start at Bariloche Airport.

Season

In winter, snow and ice are possible on the higher stretches; road conditions are checked before departure. January and February bring many visitors to the valley and heavier traffic on the way back in the late afternoon.

Vehicle

A sedan suits up to 3 passengers. Families, groups and hikers with large backpacks are better off in a minivan or an 8-seat van.
