Cariló is a seaside village set inside a forest on the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires province: sand streets, houses among the trees, spa hotels and a low, timber-built shopping centre. It is a quiet, upmarket place that couples and families visit all year round. What is particular about the transfer is the last stretch, finding the house or apart-hotel on unpaved, dimly lit streets.
For visitors from abroad
Think of a woodland retreat by the ocean rather than a tropical beach. The sea is cool; people come for the forest, the calm, the restaurants and walks on the sand. Outside January and February most activity is at weekends.
The trip from Buenos Aires
The way is the same as to Pinamar: Autovía 2 to Dolores and then provincial roads to the coast. The driver collects you from your hotel or from arrivals at Ezeiza or Aeroparque, and stops on the way are arranged when booking.
Sand streets and addresses
Streets are named after trees and birds, and at night the signs are hard to read. To make the arrival simple:
- Send the name of the hotel, complex or house as well as the street.
- If the owner shared a map location, forward it to us.
- If heavy rain has left the access soft, tell us what the owner advises.
When to travel
For January and February, book well ahead. During the rest of the year traffic builds on Friday going out and on Sunday coming back. A morning departure avoids much of it.
Vehicle
A sedan is enough for a couple. A family with suitcases travels better in a minivan; two families can share a van for 8 or take two vehicles. If you want more going on, Pinamar is close by.
