Villa Gesell has for decades been the summer destination for groups of young Argentines, and for many families who return every year. It lies on the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires province and grew up on dunes that Carlos Gesell planted with trees. Today it is a town with crowded beaches by day and a lively Avenida 3 at night.
What a foreign visitor finds
A popular, busy resort, quite unlike a tropical one: cool sea, wind, beach clubs and a short season centred on January and February. Outside summer the town empties.
Groups: one vehicle or two
- Up to 3 people with luggage travel in a sedan.
- Six or seven fit in a minivan.
- Eight go in a van.
- Larger groups leave in two or more vehicles together.
The price is per vehicle and is agreed before the trip.
How to give the address
Streets in Gesell are numbered: avenues run parallel to the sea and “paseos” cross them. Send us the avenue and the paseo, or the name of your hotel. On summer evenings Avenida 3 becomes pedestrian in the centre; if you are staying on that stretch, the driver drops you at the nearest corner open to cars.
The way there
Autovía 2 to Dolores and then provincial roads to the coast. The trip can start at your hotel or in arrivals at Ezeiza or Aeroparque. Stops are arranged when booking.
Season
In January, February and on long weekends the road is heavily used. Leave early and book the return with the outward trip. For a quieter place in the same area, see Mar de las Pampas.

It depends on their length and on the vehicle. Tell us what you are bringing and we suggest what suits.
