Private transfer – Esquel Airport (EQS)

Esquel Airport lies outside the town, on the steppe side, in the north-west of Chubut province. It has few flights, yet it is the most direct way into Los Alerces National Park, Trevelin and the La Hoya ski area. We arrange the private transfer from arrivals to your accommodation; availability in the region is confirmed when booking.

Where people go from here

• Esquel. The town itself, home of La Trochita, the old narrow-gauge steam train.
• Trevelin. A village of Welsh heritage, much visited in October for its tulip fields.
• Los Alerces National Park. A World Heritage site with cabins and lodges beside the lakes. Roads inside the park are partly gravel and slower.
• La Hoya. Esquel’s ski hill, in winter.
• El Bolsón and Lago Puelo. North along Ruta 40, for travellers who found a flight to Esquel instead of Bariloche.

Pick-up

The terminal is small and meeting is simple. Book with your flight number; the flight is followed by that number and your driver waits in arrivals with a sign showing your name. Driver and vehicle details are sent beforehand.

Few flights

With so few services, a weather cancellation can leave you without a flight that day. The usual alternative airport is Bariloche, a long drive away. If that happens, message us and we see what can be arranged. In winter, snow and ice also affect timings across the area.

Towards Chile

From Trevelin a road leads to Futaleufú on the Chilean side, through a border post. Availability of that route and its conditions are confirmed when booking, and documents depend on each passenger’s nationality: check with the official migration authority of each country.

Vehicle

A sedan for up to 3 passengers; a minivan or an 8-seat van for families and for ski or fishing gear.
