Private transfer – Jujuy Airport (JUJ)

Price on request: we reply with the final price for your date.

For the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy airport (JUJ) is the closest place to land. Officially called Gobernador Horacio Guzmán International, it is not in the provincial capital itself but at Perico, in the valley south-east of San Salvador de Jujuy. It handles fewer flights than Salta, mainly from Buenos Aires.

An airport out in the valley

Because the terminal stands well outside the city, every onward trip needs a vehicle. With a booked transfer your driver is in arrivals with a sign showing your name, and the flight is followed by its number. You receive the driver and vehicle details by message beforehand.

Usual trips from JUJ

  1. San Salvador de Jujuy, for travellers who spend the first night in the capital or have business there.
  2. The Quebrada: Purmamarca, Tilcara and Humahuaca. The road passes San Salvador and carries on north along Ruta Nacional 9, climbing all the way.
  3. The yungas, the cloud forest in the east of the province, home to Calilegua National Park.
  4. Salta city, when the convenient flight lands in Jujuy but the trip continues in the neighbouring province.

In through one airport, out through the other

Many north-west itineraries begin in Jujuy and end in Salta, or the reverse, so that no road is driven twice. If you plan it that way, send us both flights and we coordinate both transfers. For several days on the road with one car, see the page on a multi-day driver.

Altitude from day one

The airport lies in a low valley, but the Quebrada villages are considerably higher. If you travel there straight from the plane, take the first day gently. Anyone with a health condition should talk to their doctor before the trip.
