Salta’s airport, officially Martín Miguel de Güemes International (SLA), is the main way into north-west Argentina by air. Flights arrive from Buenos Aires and other Argentine cities, and most trips to the Calchaquí Valleys and the Quebrada de Humahuaca start on its forecourt. It sits south-west of Salta city, a short drive from the centre.

Driving on the same day

With a morning arrival, travellers often head out of town directly from the airport. With an afternoon arrival, think about spending the night in Salta first. Mountain stretches are better driven in daylight, and you start the next day rested. Tell us your flight time and we say what is realistic.
