Multi-day private driver in Northwest Argentina

One driver and one vehicle stay with you for the whole trip around Salta and Jujuy, from the first morning to the last afternoon. It is the alternative to hiring a car for travellers who would rather not drive mountain and gravel roads themselves, and it saves arranging a fresh transfer every day.

Trips it suits

• The Calchaquí Valleys loop: Salta, Cachi, Cafayate and back, including the gravel section of Ruta 40 between the two villages.
• The Quebrada de Humahuaca from a fixed base: sleeping in Purmamarca or Tilcara and going out each day to Humahuaca, Hornocal or Salinas Grandes.
• In by one airport, out by the other: starting in Jujuy and finishing in Salta, or the reverse.

What we need for a quote

1. Dates and number of days.
2. Where you sleep each night, or at least in which village.
3. How many people and how many suitcases.
4. Which places are essential for you and which are optional.
5. Where the trip starts and ends.

How it is organised

You book your own accommodation. The driver’s accommodation and expenses are part of the quote, so there is nothing for you to arrange or pay separately. The price is per vehicle and is agreed before departure, together with the route.

Entry fees, local guides and winery tastings are paid by you at each place. The driver drives and knows the roads but does not replace a licensed guide.

Order of the route and altitude

It makes sense to begin with the lower areas and keep the high plateau for the final days. Anyone in the group with a health condition should consult their doctor before the itinerary is fixed. Sections that cross into Chile or Bolivia are confirmed at booking.
