Almost the whole trip from Buenos Aires to Uruguaiana follows one road, Ruta Nacional 14, which runs beside the Uruguay river through Entre Ríos and Corrientes provinces to Paso de los Libres. The border comes only at the end: you cross the international bridge and you are in the Brazilian town. It is a long door-to-door transfer, and its availability and conditions are confirmed at booking.

Why go with a driver

There is no quick, direct way to make this journey. Long-distance buses stop at Paso de los Libres, and you then have to get yourself and your bags across. A private transfer makes sense when:

  • a family or group is travelling and the price per vehicle is shared;
  • there is a lot of luggage, children or a pet;
  • another connection is waiting in Uruguaiana and you need a sensible arrival time;
  • you want to start from your home, your hotel or straight from the airport.

How the trip is planned

We suggest an early start, so the driving is done in daylight and you reach the border with time in hand. The route leaves Buenos Aires over the Zárate–Brazo Largo bridges and continues on a dual carriageway. Stops are agreed beforehand: Gualeguaychú, Colón and Concordia are usual places to eat and stretch your legs. If you would rather split the trip and sleep on the way, say so when you ask for a quote.

The border at the end of the day

Cars and trucks share the bridge between Paso de los Libres and Uruguaiana, and the wait varies by day and season. In summer, holiday traffic to the Brazilian beaches is added. We do not promise a crossing time. That last stretch is described in Paso de los Libres – Uruguaiana.

Documents

Each passenger carries a valid travel document. Which one is accepted depends on nationality, so check with the migration authority of both countries before travelling. Minors without both parents usually need an authorisation.
