Buquebus runs the ferries between Buenos Aires and Colonia del Sacramento and Montevideo in Uruguay. Its terminal stands on the riverfront at the northern end of Puerto Madero, close to the city centre, and works much like a small airport: check-in, luggage drop and border control before you board.
Before you sail
This is an international trip, so you need a valid travel document and time for the formalities. The reporting time is the one Buquebus states on your ticket. Use it as your reference and tell us where you are leaving from; we agree the pick-up time on that basis.
The driver drops you at the terminal entrance. If you have a stroller, boards or many suitcases, say so when booking.
Arriving from Uruguay
- Book with the date, the port you sail from and the ferry’s arrival time.
- You receive the meeting point and the driver and vehicle details.
- After landing, collect your luggage, pass the checks and message us as you come out.
Ferries can be delayed by weather. If the company notifies you of a change, forward it to us.
Usual trips from the terminal
- To Ezeiza or Aeroparque, for travellers combining Uruguay with a flight.
- To hotels and apartments in any neighbourhood.
- To the northern suburbs and the wider Greater Buenos Aires area.

Colonia Express ferries leave from a different terminal further south. Check on your ticket which company operates your crossing and tell us when you book.
