Getting from Bariloche Airport (BRC) to town

Team at LatamTransfer ·

Bariloche Airport (BRC) lies east of the town, out on the open steppe and outside the built-up area. Reaching the centre from there is simple. What catches visitors out is the shape of the town: it runs west along the shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and a large share of the hotels are on the far side of the centre.

Work out where you are staying

  • Town centre. Around the Centro Cívico, on steep streets. This is the closest destination to the airport.
  • Avenida Bustillo. The lakeside road towards Llao Llao. Addresses are given by kilometre along the avenue, which is why locals talk about “the kilometres”. The higher the number, the further from the airport.
  • Villa Catedral. The base of the ski area, reached by a mountain road.
  • Beyond Bariloche. Villa La Angostura, in Neuquén province, is reached by driving round the lake through Dina Huapi without entering central Bariloche. El Bolsón is to the south along a mountain road.

Transport at the terminal

  • Taxi and remis. A remis is a car with a driver booked at a desk for an agreed fare. Both work from the terminal. For distant addresses such as Llao Llao or the ski area, ask the fare before you get in.
  • City bus. Check on arrival whether a line runs to the centre and how often. You pay with a transport card, and it is awkward with large bags or skis.
  • Ride-hailing apps. Check on arrival whether any app works here and picks up at the airport.
  • Hire car. There are rental desks. In winter, ask about snow chains or winter tyres.
  • Private transfer. One vehicle for your group, with the driver waiting in arrivals.

Winter, snow and ski bags

During the ski season and the July school holidays the terminal is crowded and the wait for a car grows. Snow and ice slow every road, the climb to the ski area most of all, and flights can be delayed. If you bring skis or boards, count the pieces: a long ski bag does not fit every boot. Our guide to bulky luggage goes through it.

Where a private transfer fits

It suits hotels far from the centre, groups carrying equipment and flights that land after dark. We follow the flight by its number, and the price is per vehicle and agreed before the trip. Availability in Bariloche is confirmed when you book. See also the page on Bariloche Airport.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bariloche airport near Cerro Catedral?

No. The airport is to the east and the ski area is on the other side of town. It is the longest transfer within Bariloche.

Is there a bus from the airport to the centre?

Ask at the information desk on arrival. Do not count on it if you land late or travel with skis.

Which vehicle do I need with ski equipment?

It depends on the number of ski bags and suitcases. A family with equipment usually needs a minivan. Give us the details when you ask for a quote.

Can I go straight from the airport to Villa La Angostura?

Yes. The road follows the lake and does not go through central Bariloche. In winter, road conditions are checked before the trip.
