Tigre is the gateway to the Paraná Delta, a maze of rivers and islands just north of Buenos Aires. You can drive as far as the town; beyond it, everything moves by boat. It is a classic half-day or full-day outing from the city, and the starting point for anyone staying at a lodge on the islands.
What people come for
- Puerto de Frutos: a riverside market selling crafts, wicker, furniture and home decoration.
- Estación Fluvial: the river station where the passenger launches and catamarans leave for the delta.
- Paseo Victorica: the riverside promenade, with rowing clubs and the Museo de Arte Tigre.
- Parque de la Costa: an amusement park, popular with families.
How far the car can take you
There is no road to the islands. The driver drops you at the river station, at the market, or at the pier your accommodation tells you to use. If you have booked an island lodge, ask which pier the boat leaves from and at what time, and pass that on to us: we plan the departure so that you arrive with a margin.
There and back in a day
You can book both legs at fixed times, or have the driver wait while you look around. To add a stop in San Isidro on the way, a car with driver by the hour is the better fit.
Weekends and public holidays
These are the busiest days. The streets around the market fill up, and the Panamericana motorway back to Buenos Aires slows down in the afternoon. Leaving early and returning before sunset, or after dark, helps. Weekdays are far quieter.
Vehicle
A sedan for up to 3 passengers; a minivan or van for families and groups. If you expect to bring back bulky purchases from the market, tell us beforehand so we send a vehicle with more room.

Frequently asked questions
Can the driver wait while we take a boat trip?
Yes. Ask for the service with waiting and tell us how long the boat trip lasts so it goes into the quote.
Can you take me to a lodge on an island?
As far as the pier in Tigre where the boat leaves. The stretch by water is arranged by the lodge or done by passenger launch.
Do you sell boat tickets?
No. We only handle the transport by road.
