Alta Gracia is the simplest half-day outing from Córdoba city: it is close by to the south-west, reached on the dual carriageway of Ruta Provincial 5, and the main sights can be walked from the centre. Many people see it in a morning or an afternoon, with the driver waiting for the return.

What to visit

  • The Jesuit estancia, with its church and museum, a World Heritage site together with the Jesuit Block in Córdoba.
  • The Tajamar, the Jesuits’ old reservoir, right in the centre.
  • The house where Ernesto “Che” Guevara lived as a boy, now a museum.
  • The house museum of the composer Manuel de Falla.

The museums close on some days of the week. Check current days and hours before choosing your date; tickets are paid by each visitor.

Ways to make the trip

  • Round trip with waiting: the driver drops you in the centre, takes you from one museum to the next if you prefer not to walk, and brings you back.
  • One way: for people who live, work or stay in Alta Gracia, including from Córdoba airport.
  • A stop on the way: Alta Gracia is on the road to Villa General Belgrano, so a short visit can be added to that transfer.

Things to consider

Many people live in Alta Gracia and work in Córdoba, so the road is busy towards the capital in the morning and the other way in the late afternoon. For an outing, leaving mid-morning avoids that flow.
