Villa General Belgrano is a small town in the Calamuchita valley with a Central European heritage: alpine-style buildings, craft breweries and pastry shops. It lies south-west of Córdoba city and is reached on Ruta Provincial 5, through Alta Gracia and along Los Molinos reservoir.
The calendar decides
The town’s main festival is the Oktoberfest, in October. There are others at Easter and during the July winter holidays. On those dates:
- Streets in the centre are closed, and the vehicle cannot always reach the door of your accommodation.
- The road carries much more traffic, above all at the end of each day.
- Accommodation fills up, and transfers should be booked well in advance.
If you are going to a festival for the day, book the outward and return trips together, with a set return time. That way nobody in the group has to drive after the beer.
What the road is like
The highway crosses the hills, with bends and climbs, and has views over the reservoir. If anyone gets carsick on winding roads, tell us: the driver can take a break on the way.
What you can combine
- A stop in Alta Gracia, which is on the way.
- Carrying on to La Cumbrecita by mountain road.
- A direct transfer from Córdoba airport.
For families with suitcases or groups of friends there are minivans with 6–7 seats and vans with 8.
