Private transfer Posadas – Esteros del Iberá

From Posadas you can enter the Iberá wetlands, the vast marshland of Corrientes province, from two different sides, and the choice shapes the whole trip. Ituzaingó is close and on a paved highway. Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, the classic village on the Iberá lagoon, lies much deeper in and is reached partly on earth roads.

First, which part of Iberá you are going to

• Ituzaingó and the Cambyretá gateway: west along Ruta Nacional 12. The transfer to the town is simple; the track from the highway into the park is unpaved.
• Colonia Carlos Pellegrini: the access most visitors use, with lodges and boat outings. From Posadas there is a shorter northern approach on earth and sand, and a much longer way round through Mercedes.

The earth roads

After heavy rain the northern roads can become impassable for an ordinary car. We work with sedans, minivans and vans, which are road vehicles. Before confirming, we tell you how far we can get on that day. Many lodges arrange the final stretch themselves in a pickup truck, and the transfer is then planned to the point where the asphalt ends.

What to keep in mind

• Capybaras, caimans, marsh deer and birds are seen mainly on boat outings and walks, which you arrange with your lodge or with local guides.
• Summer heat is intense. Bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen and a hat.
• Leave early so that you arrive in daylight.
• Book the return together with the outward trip: there are no services at hand in the area to improvise with.
