Aeroparque Jorge Newbery is the airport inside the city of Buenos Aires, on the Costanera Norte avenue facing the Río de la Plata. It handles most of Argentina’s domestic flights and some international ones as well, mainly regional. Before you plan the ride, confirm which of the city’s two airports your flight uses.
Domestic or international: read the ticket
The list of international destinations served from Aeroparque is not fixed. It has changed several times by decision of the aviation authorities. One airline may fly from both Aeroparque and Ezeiza, and some domestic flights leave from Ezeiza. The only reliable guide is the airport code on your ticket: AEP is Aeroparque, EZE is Ezeiza. Check it for each leg, above all when you have a connection.
What differs by type of flight
- Domestic arrival. There is no immigration or customs. You collect your bag and walk out, so you meet your driver quickly.
- International arrival. You pass immigration and customs before reaching the public hall.
- Departure. Airlines set different deadlines for domestic and international flights. Use your own airline’s as the starting point.
Getting there and away
Aeroparque is close to Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano and the centre. That closeness is a little misleading: the Costanera fills up at peak hours and the ride can drag.
- Taxi. There is an official rank at the terminal: you request the ride at a kiosk, which works out the fare for your destination and prints a ticket.
- Ride-hailing apps. They work in the city; where they may collect passengers at the airport is regulated and changes.
- City bus. Several lines stop at the terminal and are paid with the SUBE card, the local transport card. The airport has no underground station.
- Private transfer from Aeroparque. The driver waits in arrivals holding a sign with your name, and the price is agreed in advance.
If you have to connect with Ezeiza
Changing airports means crossing the city and continuing by motorway. If the flights are on separate tickets, you also have to collect your luggage and check it in again. Leave a wide margin and see the page on the transfer between Ezeiza and Aeroparque.
