When people search for “Buenos Aires airport”, they almost always mean one of two: Ezeiza, for most international flights, or Aeroparque, inside the city. Two other airfields turn up on some tickets and searches: El Palomar, once used by low-cost airlines, and San Fernando, for private aviation. Before you arrange any transfer, check which one your ticket shows.
Ezeiza (EZE): the international airport
Ministro Pistarini International Airport, known simply as Ezeiza, lies outside the city to the south-west and is reached on the Riccheri motorway. It handles most international flights and some domestic ones too. It has more than one terminal, so it is worth knowing which one is yours. More on our Ezeiza transfers page.
Aeroparque (AEP): the city airport
Aeroparque Jorge Newbery sits inside the city, on the Costanera by the Río de la Plata. It handles domestic flights and regional flights within South America. Being close to Palermo, the centre and the port, it is usually a shorter drive than Ezeiza, although city traffic still matters. See Aeroparque transfers.
El Palomar (EPA)
It lies in the western suburbs, at a military air base. For some years low-cost airlines used it for passenger flights. It currently has no scheduled passenger flights, although its situation has changed more than once. If El Palomar appears on your ticket, confirm with the airline and the official airport information that the flight really operates from there before you plan how to get there.
San Fernando (FDO)
It lies in the northern suburbs and serves private aviation, business jets and air taxis, not scheduled airline flights. If you are flying privately, see the San Fernando airport page.
Which Buenos Aires airport is on your ticket
- Look for the three-letter code: EZE, AEP, EPA or FDO.
- If you see BUE, that is the city code covering several airports; the actual airport is in the flight details.
- If you connect between Ezeiza and Aeroparque, there is no airside link: you leave one airport and travel by road to the other. That is what the Ezeiza–Aeroparque transfer is for.
Getting to each one
The airports with scheduled flights can be reached by city bus, by bus or shuttle services to the city, by taxi, by remis (an agency car with a price agreed in advance), by ride-hailing app or by private transfer. With luggage, children or a night flight, a pre-booked vehicle at a fixed time is usually the simplest choice.
