Concordia is the second city of Entre Ríos province, in its north-east, on the Uruguay river. People travel there for work and for leisure alike: it is citrus and blueberry country, the city has thermal complexes, and the Salto Grande dam and its lake are right next to it.

Who makes this trip

  • People with business linked to local farming, or with meetings and paperwork in the city.
  • Families and couples going to the hot springs.
  • Anglers heading for the river and the lake with their own gear.
  • People visiting relatives with more luggage than is comfortable on a bus.

Dual carriageway nearly all the way

After the Zárate–Brazo Largo bridges, Ruta 14 runs north alongside the Uruguay river as a dual carriageway. It is a long drive but an even one. The usual plan is an early start and a meal stop about halfway.

Coach, plane or private transfer

Long-distance buses leave Retiro by day and overnight. Concordia has an airport, but scheduled flights are not always available: check whether there is a service on your date. A private transfer is worth it when several people travel together, when the address is a farm, a plant or a complex outside the centre, or when the plan includes stops, for example in Colón.

There and back

Returning the same day only works with a short schedule, and it is tiring. Spending at least one night is the sensible choice. If you need to get around once there, we can quote a driver by the day. For groups with a lot of luggage, see the minivan.

Frequently asked questions

Can you take us to the Salto Grande lake or to hot springs outside the city?

Yes. The transfer goes to the address you give. Send us the name of the place when booking.

Can we bring rods and fishing gear?

Yes. Tell us how many pieces there are and whether any cases are long, so we can choose the vehicle.

Can we stop at El Palmar on the way?

Yes, the national park is on the same road. Mention it when booking, because it changes the length of the trip and the quote.
