Santa Fe is the capital of the province of the same name and the seat of its government, so a good share of trips from Buenos Aires are for official meetings, paperwork, business or the university. The road is motorway throughout, by way of Rosario, and the drive takes about half a day.
A working destination
Santa Fe is rarely on a classic tourist itinerary. The people who book this transfer are mostly:
- company representatives and lawyers with business at provincial offices;
- lecturers, researchers and students connected with the university;
- families visiting relatives;
- work teams carrying equipment who would rather not check it in.
The road
The first leg is the motorway to Rosario; from there another motorway continues to Santa Fe. There are no single-carriageway stretches, which keeps the drive steady and predictable. The slow points are leaving Buenos Aires at peak hours and, at times, the approaches to Rosario.
If your destination is across the river in Paraná, the crossing is through the road tunnel under the river that links the two capitals.
Coach, plane or private transfer
The long-distance bus is the most used alternative, with daytime and overnight services from Retiro. Flights are few, so check whether one matches your schedule. A private transfer helps when you must arrive at a fixed hour, when several people travel together, or when the plan includes more than one address in the city.
Timing, stops and vehicle
For a morning meeting the departure is before dawn; travelling the previous afternoon is the other option. The usual break is halfway, near Rosario. A sedan is enough for up to 3 passengers; for a larger team ask for a minivan or a van.
