Sierra de la Ventana is a small town in the hills of south-western Buenos Aires province, beside Cerro Ventana, the mountain known for the natural opening, or “window”, near its summit. People come for nature, walking and cabins. It is far: the drive from Buenos Aires takes up most of a day.
Who this transfer suits
It is fair to be plain about it: this is a long run, largely on two-lane roads across the pampas. A private transfer is reasonable mainly for:
- families and groups who fill a minivan or a van;
- older travellers, or visitors who do not want to drive for so many hours in a foreign country;
- people with a lot of luggage or a pet, with advance notice;
- stays of several days, where the cost of the journey is spread over more nights.
Other ways to get there
The nearest airport with regular flights is Bahía Blanca; from there a road leg remains. Direct long-distance buses are few. Most visitors arrive in their own car.
How such a long drive is organised
Departure is very early so as to arrive in daylight, because the final stretches are rural roads with few services. Stops for meals and rest are planned in. On a route of this length the driver’s rest is part of the plan: depending on the timing, the trip is run with longer stops or split into two legs, and this is confirmed when you book.
Once you are there
The villages of the area and the provincial park where the mountain stands are some way apart, with hardly any public transport between them. If you will not have a car, ask about a driver by the day during your stay. For the journey itself, see the minivan options.

Frequently asked questions
Can the trip be done in a single day?
Yes, with an early start and stops. If the timing does not allow it, the trip can be split into two legs; we settle this when booking.
Can the vehicle stay with us during our stay?
A daily service can be quoted. Tell us how many days and which outings you have in mind.
Do I need warm clothes?
Winters are cold in the hills. If you plan to walk, check the weather and the park conditions beforehand.
