An evening across the border is a habit among visitors staying in Foz do Iguaçu: shopping at the Duty Free Shop, which stands beside the Argentine border complex at the Tancredo Neves Bridge, followed by dinner in the centre of Puerto Iguazú. How the evening runs

1. The driver collects you at your hotel in Foz.
2. Border: Brazilian exit control and Argentine entry control.
3. A stop at the Duty Free Shop, if you ask for it.
4. On to the centre of Puerto Iguazú, with its grill restaurants and a street market of stalls selling olives, cheese, cold cuts and wine.
5. Back to Foz, passing both controls again.

You can also book only part of it: just the shopping or just the dinner.

Things to know

• Documents. It may be an outing of a few hours, but it is a trip to another country. Each passenger carries their own travel document, children included. Which one is accepted depends on nationality and should be checked with the migration authority.
• Purchases. What you may take back free of duty, and which food and drink you may bring in, is set by the customs authority of your country. Check before you buy.
• Busy days. At weekends and on Brazilian holidays the bridge and the restaurants are fuller. We do not promise a crossing time.
• Table. Restaurant bookings are made by the group itself.

Waiting or a fixed return

For quick shopping and dinner, having the driver wait usually works well. For a longer night, set a return time. Tell us the plan and we quote per vehicle.
