Between touchdown and getting into a car you pass four controls and a crowded hall. None of it is difficult, but knowing the order prevents the usual mistakes: leaving without reporting a missing bag, changing money in a rush, or accepting a ride from someone who approaches you at the exit. Here is the full route through Ezeiza, in the order it happens.
Before you land
Keep your passport, the full address of your accommodation and your flight number to hand. Save the contact details of your accommodation and of whoever is meeting you on your phone in a way that works offline. If you booked a transfer, reread the message with the driver’s details.
The route, step by step
- Disembarking. Follow the signs to Migraciones, which is immigration. Ezeiza has several terminals and their use has changed with recent works, so follow the signs.
- Immigration. You show your travel document. Officers may take a photo and a fingerprint and ask where you are staying. Entry requirements depend on your nationality, so check them with the Argentine migration authority before you travel.
- Baggage reclaim. Find your flight’s belt on the screens. If a bag does not appear or arrives damaged, file the claim at your airline’s desk before leaving that room. Afterwards it is much harder.
- Customs. You may be asked to put your luggage through a scanner. What you may bring in and what must be declared is set by Argentine customs; check beforehand if you carry anything unusual.
- Arrivals hall. Through the last door you will see drivers holding name signs, taxi and remis desks, exchange offices and cash machines.
In the hall: three decisions
- Money. There is no need to change everything at the airport. We explain why in our guide to currency exchange and payments.
- Connection. The airport usually has Wi-Fi, but do not rely on it to find someone. A local SIM or active roaming gives you more leeway.
- Transport. If someone offers you a car as you walk, say no thanks and keep going. Use an official desk, order a car through an app or look for the sign with your name. The alternatives are set out in how to get from Ezeiza to downtown.
If a LatamTransfer driver is meeting you
The driver will be in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. We follow the flight by its number, so a late aircraft changes nothing. If immigration or baggage takes longer than normal, send us a message so that the driver knows. See how to book.
