Luján de Cuyo and Maipú are the wine areas closest to Mendoza city, lying to the south and south-east within the metropolitan area. A vehicle with a driver for your group means nobody has to drive after the tastings.
What each area offers
- Luján de Cuyo: the area most closely linked with Mendoza Malbec, with wineries of every size. Chacras de Coria, a district within it, has restaurants and small hotels.
- Maipú: long-established wineries, plus olive oil producers that receive visitors.
Planning the day
Wineries here receive visitors by reservation at fixed times, and many serve lunch. Your reservations therefore set the order of the day:
- You book the visits and lunch directly with each winery. Tastings and meals are paid by you.
- You send us the list with the times, and the address where you are staying.
- We confirm whether the gaps between visits are realistic and when the driver collects you.
The driver waits during each visit, and anything you buy stays in the vehicle.
Worth knowing
The wineries are close to one another, but it is unwise to pack in too many: each visit takes its time. During the harvest at the end of summer the wineries fill up, so reserve further ahead.
For a full-day programme see private driver for a day in Mendoza. The Uco Valley, at the foot of the Andes, is further away and needs the whole day.
